Support me as I stay active for 27 days to support those living with Parkinson's!

I'm taking part in the 27ForParkinson's Challenge to help raise funds for people living with Parkinson's - a progressive neurological condition that affects people from all walks of life.

With over 57,000 people in Victoria and 219,000 Nationally living with Parkinson's, your donation will make a difference to so many people.

For 27 days I will be staying active whether it be walking, running or just moving my body on behalf of the Parkinson's Community.

Day 10 boxing and bike

Wednesday 11th Oct
In the morning it was an hour with Rocksteady boxing in followed by a bike ride in the afternoon on a beautiful sunny day on a 25 km loop around Bayswater and Boronia, all in all perfect day!

Day 9 Pilates toothache

Wednesday 11th Oct
And unexpected toothache kept me off the bike today. Turns out that I need root canal therapy for an upper molar dentist has given me antibiotics in the meantime. But still managed to squeeze in the Pilates routine during the day and captured some video.

Day 8

Monday 9th Oct
Supposed to a rest day but the weather was perfect so decided to go for a bike ride. Some hill work with a ride up Wheelers Hill... Via Jells Pk and returning via the Carhbul Wetlands. 
Later in the day rang a  mate I'd met years ago through sailing (Murray) who I hadn't spoken to in over a year.  He has some fairly health issues and was pleased that I rang.. spoke for over an hour and was a great catch-up.

Day 7 Sailing

Monday 9th Oct
Day 7 Morning: Chair and floor full workout 
Afternoon : Sailing  boat racing on Albert Park Lake, and the Albert Park Yacht Club's annual Ladies Bracelet race commemorating the first race held by the club, one of the oldest in Australia.  It was a great afternoon being  part of it and finishing among them all, in 7th place.
Amazingly there were 27 boats entered in the race... must be an omen!  

DAYs 4, 5 &6

Saturday 7th Oct
Day 4 Raining again and spent a good part of the day repairing the bicycle rear deralieur and replacing the brake pads. Made good use of the breathing exercises as the repair job was fiddly and time consuming. I spend  a lot of time getting down and picking things up accidently dropped and ten trying to find them after rolling to some hard to reach location which happens often. 
Day 5 took the bike for a test ride and covered about 10km's as the gear changer was still not working well. Tried out the Yoga exercises, somewhat limited by stiffness in the trunk and upper back. Fished out the day with two hours of choir pratice at Box Hill Golf Club.
Day 6 with the bike in top shape mechanically rode it to the newly formed Boronia Parkinson's support group, run by Ian McFarlane.

Day 3

Tuesday 3rd Oct
Day 3 was wet, and rained all day. Spent some time repairing the bike and did a hour at Fitlife gym Rock Steady boxing. And completed the 27 For Parkinsons daily challenge for Day 3.. among them were pushups.

Day 2

Tuesday 3rd Oct
Day 2 set out on a ride and only made 1 km before a stick flicked up and damaged the gearing on the bike. Had no choice but to walk home in brilliant sunshine and thought I'd make that the walk as per the 27 For Parkinson's challenge and experienced a magpie swoop.  Spent the rest of the day with walk around Knox shopping centre looking for Centrelink office which had moved to Boronia so it was off to Boronia and Centrelink followed by the bike shop for a bike parts replacement. Later on took part in an online Zoom singing group. It was a full on day of activity, mostly unplanned! Bike damage and the section of path on the Blind Creek trail in Wantirna South where the magpie swooped can be seen in the photo... (Not an easy bike fix).

Tuesday 3rd Oct
First day got off to a great start with a 20km ride to Ferntree Gully and back in brilliant sunshine and a completed session of floor exercises as per the 27For Parkinsons challenge.

Saturday 23rd Sep
Proff Bas Bloeme has demonstrated that 30minutes per day 3 days a week is beneficial for those with Parkinson's, so as part of the 27 day challenge will be doing just that and more, as well as Dr's exercise regime. Decided to get in some early 'pracitice' on the bike  and some walking..
