Day 27 - Celebration time

Friday 27th Oct
Today we partied! Our Fight Parkinson's hat and drink bottle arrived and the girls loved them. We jumped on bubble wrap from a recent delivery, played in the sun after school, work and kinder, and have ordered pizza for dinner. I am so glad we did this challenge, it made me more conscious to do things for our health and wellbeing each day. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated. It means a lot that you did. Fight Parkinson's do great work.

Day 26 - Meditation day

Friday 27th Oct
Today I followed the 27 for Parkinson's daily challenge of mediating for 15 minutes.

The girls did their own things, but get tired towards the end of the week.

Day 25 - Back on the horse

Thursday 26th Oct
I booked in for a group workout today, to learn the new program... and it was unpleasant.

But the progress I noticed was very pleasing to see.

I think the girls will like the new moves when I take them in the weekend.

Holly had swimming lessons and Anika did some physical challenges. A good day

Day 24 - Hobbled

Tuesday 24th Oct
Ok... I got a bit excited at the gym yesterday and added in some one-legged deadlifts after a long period of not doing them. As a result, today I am limited to standing and walking down hills... Bring on the high heels!

In the afternoon I put on music and the kids danced, sang and played hide and seek.

Days 21, 22 and 23 - Mixed Bag

Monday 23rd Oct
Day 21 - Saturdays are active days for the kids; dance lessons, swimming and playing. Today for 27 for Parkinson's, we also danced to the Hokie-Pokie, Ring-a-ring-a-roses, and a too long stream of Wiggles songs. But it was excellent fun. The highlight of my day.

Day 22 - We thought the kids really needed a home day, so we forced ourselves to stay in and play all day. It was just what we needed. I then went to the gym once they were asleep.

Day 23 - A. Jade came over and we went to the park after school and Kinder. I ticked over 15,000 steps between doing this and a gym visit. Geez the weather went from freezing to amazing across the course of the day.

Day 20 - Great weather day

Friday 20th Oct
The kids had great days respectively. Anika at school and Holly at Kinder. I worked and went to the gym... and got some new PB's. Woohoo.

Day 19 - PBs at the Gym and Circus 101

Thursday 19th Oct
I went up 5-9 kg on all my weight activities at the gym today, dead lifts, chest press and seated rows. Still pumped hours later. After school, Anika trialled a Circus class and loved it.

Day 18 - Big Walk and Swim

Thursday 19th Oct
Day 18 - Holly for the first time walked the whole way to drop Anika at school, but on the way home said she needed a 'rest' on the swing set. After 20 minutes of her laughter and joy, we headed to her new Swimming lesson. Afterwards I joined her for another hour in the pool.

Day 17 - excursion and stretching day

Wednesday 18th Oct
Holly had an excursion to the park with kinder today. She walked there and then played for an hour. She told us all about it. Just lovely. I was experiencing what I call Squatters Regret. I must have pushed myself a bit far the last few days at the gym, so was limited to stretching, then eventually weeding in the evening.

Day 16 - workout / chill out

Monday 16th Oct
I went to the gym at lunch and did a full workout; pull ups (assisted!), dead lifts (45kg), weighted squats, wall holds and the sled push (60kg). Feeling great.

The girls however needed quiet time after school and Kinder. For us that means quietly playing or reading in their rooms until they appear again.

Day 15 - A day at the gym

Sunday 15th Oct
We got back to the gym... we started this during the school holidays. The girls do pull ups, box jumps, squats, ball throws, shoulder presses, dancing and dj the workout. Today we listened to Christine Anu, The Wiggles, Seasame Street, Emma Memma and the Batman soundtrack. It was wild!

Day 14 - Dancing, Chickens and Swimming

Sunday 15th Oct
This weekend we get to look after the kinder chickens, Holly had dance lessons and Anika's had swimming lessons. I jumped in the pool with Holly, then and after the lesson finished we all had more games and fun in the pool. Me getting into the pool around lessons is new, as we moved to a council program which allowed for it. Yay.

I capped off my mental, emotional and social exercise (and one-sided lunges), playing bowles with friends and some people I didn't know.

Day 13 - Rock climbing

Sunday 15th Oct
On Friday we met up with 8 of Anika's friends and their parents at a Rock Climbing place after school and the kids went nuts. Some climbed to the roof, others not so high, but it was amazing, thrilling and cemented their relationships.

I did my 10,000 steps, but Friday was all about the kids.

Days 10, 11 and 12

Thursday 12th Oct
Day 10 - This was a tough day. I had a migraine, and can't remember much of it, but the kids were well, and I almost made it to 10,000 steps. Counting that as a win.

Day 11 - such a great day. The sun was out, and therefore, so were we. We played soccar, went on the swings, scooted. All around fun after school.

Day 12 - We were all at our best today and it was apparent. I even got back to the gym. So good.

Days 8 and 9 - return to regular programming

Tuesday 10th Oct
Day 8 was the day we flew home. What we missed in formal exercise, was made up for in awkwardly holding kids in the tiny plane toilets and running through the airport with the girls riding their pull-along suitcases.

Day 9 was the first day the kids were back to school and Kinder.  Amazingly we were jet lagged from a 1.5 hour time difference, so had to run to school and Kinder.

Day 7

Saturday 7th Oct
More holiday fun; soccar, throwing and catching, learning to do head over heels, walking, napping, painting and star gazing.

15,000 steps (11km) walked and it was wonderful.

Day 6

Friday 6th Oct
After yesterday, we tried to keep things a little quieter but failed. We started out making Uluru out of leaves, read lots of books, then we walked to the Gallery of Central Australia and went to a great look out point where we drew the shape of our shadows. This meant we met our 10,000 step goal without it being conscious thing.

Days 4 & 5

Thursday 5th Oct
Day 4 Yesterday was a different day as we flew to Uluru. I ended up clocking 10km, but most of our exercise was in the pool. So good. Day 5 This is the day we have been dreaming about. Exploring Uluru. We walked 10km with my parents. Just spectacular. We are heading back to the pool now to cool down. What a wonderful way to meet our goal for today.

Day 3 - Heavy rain day

Tuesday 3rd Oct
Today's activities were weather effected.

The walk to school became a run as it started to pour with rain. Happily that meant that our shoes made that squeaky sound wet shoes make on lino when we arrived.

In the afternoon the girls and I counted our jumps. I got to 300, I stopped counting after the girls got to 700.

Day 2 - Obstacle Course

Monday 2nd Oct
After School and Kinder, the girls did a great job designing an obstacle course, incorporating; Basketball, rocking, balancing, jumping, crawling and scooting. So fun. Soon we will have yummy salmon tacos. I will be doing my work out after it cools down a bit, but hit my 10,000 steps a few hours ago. Yay.

Day 1

Monday 2nd Oct
I had hoped to take the girls to the gym equipment so we could assess where we were at in a fun location, but the kids exhausted themselves playing tag for hours, and on a jumping castle at a kindergarten (pre-school) event.

With them ticked off, I went for a walk to ensure I met the 10,000 step goal, and did some assessments at home;
 - plank (30 sec) - can do
 - shoulder press (4 x 6kg sets of 20) A - OK
 - pull up (1) - yeah right.
 - squats (4 x 6kg loaded sets of 8) - all good

So in short, we are on our way.
