Support me as I stay active for 27 days to support those living with Parkinson's!

I'm taking part in the 27ForParkinson's Challenge to help raise funds for people living with Parkinson's - a progressive neurological condition that affects people from all walks of life.

For 27 days I will be staying active whether it be playing golf, walking with family, running 5km with Parkrun or mowing lawns on behalf of the Parkinson's Community   In particular in memory of Rob Horsburgh  the inspirational leader of the team  and Peter Schroder another original active member for last 3 years

Will you help me make a difference? Every dollar raised has a lasting impact, so please make a donation to support my challenge.

Day 7 (Sat 7th Oct) 27 for Parkinson's

Friday 13th Oct

Sue & I participated in the Hamilton Parkrun” a timed 5 km run around lake Hamilton.   My recorded time of 34 mins quite a bit slower than previous Saturdays “ParkRun” time of 31 minutes seconds outside fastest time for the year.)  Combination of a big week and missing the start!!  Took rest   of day Preeti easy. Thus, had plenty of time to reflect on the dignity that Rob and Heather both travelled the challenging Parkinson’s Road with.

Day 6 Vale Rob Horsburgh

Friday 13th Oct

At the Coleraine footy club rooms we today celebrated the life well lived of Rob Horsburgh. Locals reported that the club rooms had never been so full.   Rob would have been thrilled to see so many people dressed up in “Red and Blue colours” of his beloved Melb footy club.    The clubrooms over looked one of several grounds where Rob played and coached with distinction

Day 2 'Vale Rob Horsburgh and Heather Wedding

Friday 13th Oct

Rob Horsburgh the inspirational leader of  “Rob’s Gang”   passed away  last night, some 12 months after first finding out he had  cancer.  At the time of first diagnosis, it had already spread widely including his spine.    It was a particularly debilitating and painful cancer to endure on top of Parkinsons    Yet he maintained an amazing positive and cheery disposition right up to the end. Which is truly inspiring .

It was also the day  where Heather Wedding was laid to rest Heather along Rob were  both  foundation members of our Southern Grampians Parkinsons’s Support group and ParkinSong group was laid to rest.   The large Lutheran Church was packed underscoring the fondness everyone who crossed her path had for her.  .

Reminder of “Circle of Life “ when had to rush home from Heather’s funeral to greet three grandchildren  who with their  mother came to stay for4 days.  During which time we all spent a day with other son’s child. Plenty of joyful activity to ensure I slept well at night

Day 1of this year's 27 for Parkinson's

Friday 13th Oct

1st October 2023

This was to be “Rob’s Gang”, fourth 27 Walks for Parkinsons.

As well as several members of Rob’s family, the team also included  Rick Purvis, Peter Schroeder and myself. Rob’s Gang has raised over $15,000 for “Parkinson’s Victoria.  Even though  Rob was hospitalised and unable to walk he was keen to participate as best he could. Last year Peter rode his bike for eight km 27 times last October Sadly his health deteriorated rapidly soon after and he passed away earlier this year
